My Monthly Beauty Box Subscription Addiction

I love getting stuff in the mail. Can anyone tell me that they don’t like getting packages in the mail? Bills don’t count.

A few months back, like in October I wanted to get some new mascara. I had wanted to try some new makeup products but never seem to be able to afford some of the products. I also wanted to be able to write some reviews on some new products.

Then I was scrolling through my old websites and found one site I had forgotten all about. I logged on and looked around, signed up to receive a few beauty boxes a month. The price varies on the company box. I also signed up during the holidays when the deals were pretty good. I didn’t have to pay full prices on some of the monthly boxes.

I signed up for the Wal-Mart Box. Target Beauty Box. Allure Box and Ipsy Glam Bag. I had to stop because it could get expensive especially when the boxes are $10 each. The Wal-Mart box is $5 and is sent out every three months and the others are monthly.

I received the Wal-Mart Beauty Box first back in October of 2016. The first Wal-Mart box was mostly all lotions, which was really ok because winter was coming and so was the dry skin. Then I moved onto the Ipsy Glam Bag and the Target Beauty Box in November. And now around every mid-month I receive a new Ipsy Bag and a new Allure Beauty Box. The Target Beauty box must be ordered monthly, which is ok. You get to see ahead time what’s inside so you don’t have to order it if it’s not something you want or need.

I had planned on starting to review the boxes, but you have how I’ve been lately. A mess, unorganized and undisciplined when it comes to my writing and blogging. I really need to be cock slapped.

I like the Allure Beauty Boxes the best. Their “samples” are at the higher end, if you know what I mean. For March I received the following items…march allure beauty box, sassycat3000, latina blogger, subscription addiction, monthly samples,

  • Akar Skin Ruby Tint Lip Butter – There is a code on the box for 20% off my first purchase. 100% natural & organic. Not bad for the lips, I will use it up.
  • Derma E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum – I will always use an anti-aging serum every chance I get. I like this product.
  • John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7 day Volume in-shower treatment – Haven’t used this yet, but I’m pretty sure I wont be disappointed.
  • Londontown Lakur Enhanced Colour -“Cheerio” is the color I received a sheer pinkish color.
  • Londontown Kur Nourishing Cuticle Oil – This is great stuff. I love it. Winter is always hard on my hands, so this came at a great time now that spring is here.
  • Secret Invisible Solid Cool Waterlily Deodorant. A sample, which is ok. I like trying new stuff.

There wasn’t anything in the Allure Box that I didn’t like. Each month you get a new bag to use, some are cute and some aren’t. Mostly they’re intended for you to use as a compact makeup bag. I use them for all sorts of other things.

In the Ipsy Bag, my favorite product is…

march ipsy glam bag, sassycat3000, latina blogger, beauty box, subscription addiction, monthly, samples

  • Tarteist™ quick dry matte lip paint – Vibin(wine) color. The color lasts long, matte. I’m really getting into these matte lip paints.

Target’s Beauty Box for March I received the following…

  • Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence
  • Soapbox Bamboo Shampoo & Conditioner target beauty box, sassycat300, latina blogger, beauty porducts, subscription addiction
  • Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer – This is my favorite product out of the box. In the winter my skin gets so dry that I would use baby oil before drying off with a towel then adding the lotion before getting dressed. But this lotion is GREAT! I rub it in before drying off and I don’t have to add anymore moisturizing products to my skin after that. I loved it so much that I went out and purchased a large bottle.
  • Dove Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo
  • Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lip Shine – This is ok. A bit waxy, sticky on the lips. Makes me rub my lips together a lot.
  • Skinfix Foaming Oil Cleaner – I like this facial cleaner as well. A very small dab of cleaner goes a long way.

My favorite box is the Allure Beauty Box.

You get more bang for your buck as well as a variety of products. There is a booklet that comes inside that tells you all about your products. It’s a draw between the Target & Ipsy Bag and lastly the Wal-Mart Beauty Box. The Wal-Mart box is only $5 and really is a great deal for some samples. If I could afford it (monthly) I would subscribe to FabFitFun Box but that’s $49.99. Can’t afford it yet! I just might have to add the Birchbox though because that one is only $10 a month.

Packing Cubes Set Travel Luggage Organizers [Product Review]

I’m traveling to New Orleans in a few weeks, flying with Spirit Airlines. I read that they have some specific rules about luggage. I’m only going for 4 days, but we know that most of us have to pack everything but the kitchen sink in our luggage.

How am I gonna fit everything into a 16X14X12 size carry-on bag?

I researched and found that lots of travelers are using the idea of package cubes to organize their carry-on. Could this really work? Doesn’t that add extra space? Well I wanted answers, plus I wanted to try and pack as much as I can into just one bag.

I shopped around locally to find the package cubes. The box stores sold the cubes for around $24.99-29.99 for just three of them. With my WeekEight Packing Cubes Set Travel Luggage Organizer Bags I received 3 Cubes 3 Pouches for $29.99. That was worth it to me. I figured I can use the small laundry bag for my dirty intimidates and just repack the rest of the clothes in to the cubes when I return home.

What I didn’t like about the Packing Cubes Set Travel Luggage Organizers:

  • Is that they are NOT waterproof. I did test out the bags with my socks inside. I dropped them into the sink of water. Sadly, my socks got wet. I even had to ring out one sock because it was so wet.
  • The zippers on the cubes & bags seem a bit weak, appear to be easily broken. I recommend handling with care, maybe don’t over pack the cubes to prevent breaking the zipper.

sassycat3000, traveling accessories, product review, Packing Cubes Set Travel Luggage Organizer

What I did like about the Packing Cubes Set Travel Luggage Organizers:

  • You receive three packing cubes and three laundry bags. The cubes are more like mini suitcases to organize your clothes in. The laundry bags are smaller and not as expandable as the cubes, but still have some room.  I recommend the laundry bags for socks, undies.
  • The price, you get more for the amount you pay. I’ve seen some cubes where there are only three of them for the same price.
  • The luggage organizers come in 6 different colors.
  • The cubes have handles on them so they can be carried individually if necessary.
  • There is no odor with these organizers. I have read in some other reviews that they had a musky, moldy smell. But mine do not. I would recommend washing them anyway. Yes they are washable and that’s a plus.
  • The cubes have two zippers, in case one stops working. The laundry bags only have one zipper.

I do like these organizers. I would recommend these for travel. Inexpensive price and you should get a few good uses with them as long as you don’t over-pack them. I’m happy with my purchase and they worked perfectly for my weekend trip.

Bonita Vox Box [Review]

Greetings & salutations…

Welcome to Another Cat’s Tale Podcast.

Below are some of the highlights to this podcast.

I received the BonitaVoxBox a few days ago.

Inside were a few products that I will need to review.

The products inside the box were…

  • SinfulColors Nail Polish. A new Porcelain Matte – “We’re All Matte Here” #1716. I really don’t know how to describe the color. Rose? I’m not too fond of this color or the matte formula. Maybe the polish is old, but the ridges in my nails can be really seen with this nail polish. And one coat is not enough, I applied 3 coats just to give the color more depth. Otherwise its too light to see. $2.99
  • Dickinson’s Enhanced Witch Hazel Alcohol free Hydrating Toner. It’s to used after you wash your face in the morning and apply at night. It smells pretty good. No alcohol smell, but it does remind me of the Dollar Store hairspray I bought once. It doesn’t burn my face after washing. Has a bit of a tightening effect, which feels good. I could continue to use this toner. Nice big bottle for $6.99.
  • Revlon Matte Lipcolor. It’s two samples of their new colors for 2016. “HD Obsession” which I’m wearing in the photo (selfie). The second color is “Blushing Mauve” which I will have to take a photo of soon, so you can see it. Not sure I will buy this lipstick, not because I don’t like it but the price is a bit much for my pocket. $8.99 Even with the coupon that I received.
  • Fiber One Chocolate Fudge Brownie. I’ve had Fiber One products before. Not too bad. I haven’t eaten this one yet, because when it arrived the temperature was somewhere around 90. The chocolate fudge brownie was pretty much liquid in the wrapper. I will eat it – eventually.
  • Madam CJ Walker Beauty Culture Dream Come True Wonderful Pre-Wash Protein Treatment & Madam CJ Walker Beauty Culture Dream Come True Wonderful Deep Conditioning Masque. Two sample packets. Haven’t tried these yet. I wanna get my hair cut first, then use them. I’m sure I will enjoy them. As far as purchasing the product the bottles are $32 for a 6oz. I don’t think I have ever paid that much for a hair product.

It’s all about Reviews [WW142]

This week Wicked Wednesday’s Prompt is Reviews.

Do you write reviews? Yes I do.

Product reviews? Yes. So far it’s a few beauty products, household products and miscellaneous products. I have written a few sex toy reviews when I started out on EdenFantasys. I haven’t signed up with any companies nor been approached by any companies to write reviews, however I would. It was one major motivator for me to becoming self-hosted. I have won a few contests and still have yet to write reviews on those sex toys. I really want to finish my Revel Body Sonic Vibrator, but something always seems to get in me way. I also wanted to share my review on the LeLo GiGi 2, but again I get side tracked. I do always think about all the sex toy reviews that are out there now. I would like to review items that are not on the popular list. lol.

Book reviews? No. I suffer from Attention issues. I can’t sit long enough to read a book.

Website reviews? I’ve never been asked to review a website. I would give it a go if I was asked.

Other kinds of reviews? Like I mentioned before, general items from Influenster.com and 360Smiley.com and BzzAgent.com. Items like Hair dye, nail polish, men’s cologne (Reveal by Calvin Klein, the most recent) Rewards cards and food. I also write reviews on Amazon.com I love that site.

Writing my Review

Writing my Review

Why do you write reviews? Because I like sharing my experience with others looking to buy a product. It’s the same as a friend suggesting that I buy a certain item because they had a positive experience with that product. And the opposite holds true that if I had a negative experience with a product I would want others to know not to waste their money or time. I will be writing a negative review on something I purchased from Amazon.com today was the deadline for shipment. I learned to check the Amazon store that I’m buying from. There was no tracking number, it’s out of the country and late. That’s bad business. If I can help someone decide about purchasing that item after my experience then that is a good thing.

How do you write reviews? When I use my blog I have a general outline I use. Otherwise I do like using Instagram for short, brief reviews. It’s great with a single photo and tag words. It’s faster for me too. Otherwise like I said I can easily get distracted. It also depends on the product itself.

Do you have a specific way you go about it or do you do it differently every time? When I use Instagram I try to get creative with the photos, so it can be different each time. Otherwise on my blog I use the “outline.” First thing I do is always take lots of photos before I open the product. I carefully open it, continuing to take photos. Keep everything handy when I write the review. I scribble down notes of my first impression, especially my five senses.

ModaVoxBox [Product Review]

I received another Influenster Vox Box. This one is called the Moda Vox Box. Inside it contained some useful items such as…the Puffs Soft Pack. A new soft box of Puffs tissue. I took this item to work and placed it in my work vehicle. In this cold weather my nose drains and its great having the tissue handy. I like that the box is soft because I can make it fit in my storage box that sits on the doghouse of the vehicle.

Pass the Puffs

The following photos are all the items that were included in my Moda Vox Box. I was very satisfied with all the items in this box.

I’m a huge fan of the Rimmel London Brand. In my ModaVoxBox there were three Rimmel London products. The first was Scandaleyes Rockin’ Curves Mascara. I like this mascara just not as much as the Scandaleyes Retro Glam that I received complimentary in a previous Vox Box.  Next was the new Moisture Renew Lipstick followed by Moisture Renew Lip Liner.

RimmelCollage

I am very satisfied with the shade of “Berry Rose” #260. The color is bright and shimmers on my lips.
The size of the lipstick is compact & lightweight, fits in the palm of my hand. Perfect to carry in a pocket, clutch purse or even a coin purse.
Moisture Renew lipstick is long-lasting. I only did a retouch after eating. Even after licking my lips or rubbing my lips together the lipstick stays on. There is a pleasant aroma to the Moisture Renew lipstick, which I appreciate. I would buy this product again and recommend it to my friends. The Moisture lip liner works great when I can’t find a color to go with the shade of lipstick. Also the lip liner keeps the color from running. I love that, I can be kind of sloppy.

Who doesn’t like Hot Cocoa during the winter months? I sampled some of the new Swiss Miss Simply Cocoa.

Resource Water was refreshing while I raked some leaves in the back yard. I also had enough to finish it off at work. Good stuff. Better than tap water also there is no after taste like some bottled water has. YUK!

One of the best items was Hair Food by Clairol. A wonderful hair conditioner than left my hair shiny, silky and smooth the next day. It was kind of flat, no volume in my hair which makes it easy for me to wear a hat in the winter. I have extremely thick coarse hair, sometimes wearing a simple hat is impossible for me. But using Hair Food makes it easy. Sounds funny I know, but true for me. Plus it smells good. I will be buying this after I use up what I have left.

Lastly was Jergen’s Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer. I absolutely love this hand lotion, so much that I went and purchased a larger bottle for my husband for his very rough & dry hands. It worked wonders. Sadly, I forgot to take before & after photos of his hands. I keep some in my work vehicle and a small tube in my purse. Hand lotion is always welcome in the dry winter months.

The Scent of Chamomile [Product Review]

In my bathroom we hang our toilet paper “over” verses “under.” The new Charmin Chamomile Scented bathroom paper was hung over on the holder. I kept the door closed, when the door was opened there was an immediate aroma of the chamomile. That was a fresh, clean almost shampoo like scent.

Do you hang it OVER or UNDER?!

The Over Orientation
#GotitFree #ChamomileSoothesMe

I received a 6 double roll of this chamomile scent bathroom tissue, complimentary for testing purposes.  Included inside the Bzzkit   were 5 coupons for $1.50 a purchase of this Charmin product.

Bzzkit #GotitFree #chamomillesmoothes

Bzzkit
#GotitFree #chamomilesmoothes

Charmin bathroom tissue paper with a Chamomile scent is a product of Protector & Gamble. Charmin has always been a thicker tissue paper thus more absorbent bathroom tissue paper. This product has the seal of “Good Housekeeping.” Which to you, the consumer means the following…

This is Good Housekeeping’s LIMITED WARRANTY: If any product that bears our Seal proves to be defective within two years from the date it was first sold to a consumer by an authorized retailer, we, Good Housekeeping, will replace or repair the product or refund the purchase price. – GoodHousekeeping.com

This is a reassuring thing to know, however I’m not sure how toilet paper can become defective, unless it gets wet in its package.

What I didn’t like about this product:

  • I found it difficult to use this product as a secondary item. I have been known to use bathroom tissue paper as emergency tissue for my nose, especially if I get a bloody nose (due to weather & allergies). The strong aroma of chamomile was just that – strong.
  • A concern I had, even though the product states that the paper roll is the item that is scented, the tissue paper still must get permeated. How does that affect the gentle areas of a woman’s body? It’s just a thought. Doctors tell women “don’t use any perfumed products, etc.” Or have they stopped saying that and I’m just a bit behind the times?
  • Once the package was open the chamomile scent was no longer a strong one.
  • The package states 6 double rolls = 12 regular rolls. However, Charmin’s idea of a double roll doesn’t seem like it. Each roll has 165 2-ply sheets.

What I did like about this product:

  • The softness of the paper.
  • The thickness of the paper. It is 2-ply. A definite difference.
  • The scent of the chamomile. It had a clean, fresh scent like shampoo.
  • Pretty flower design on the tissue paper.

Would I buy this product? Probably not. Because the aroma is a bit too strong for the multiple purposes that I tend to use bathroom tissue paper for. A tissue substitute for a running nose, wiping watery eyes.

If you are a smart consumer, pinching those pennies (like me) wanting to get more for your buck, be aware of the cost and amount of sheet per roll. I went to my local Wal-Mart to buy some toilet paper. Charmin Chamomile scented bath tissue was not anywhere to be seen. I took some photos so you can get an idea of cost & amount of tissue paper you get for the price. I’m gonna pass on any future purchase of Charmin Chamomile scented bath tissue paper.

This product was sent to me complimentary from BzzAgent.com for testing purposes, resulting in this blog post sharing my honest opinion.

Vow Vox Box 2 [Review]

This is the second part of my Vow Vox Box product review.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure. This product was very disappointing. It is a pretty color, however it is just too light. Maybe use this for french tip, in place of the white color. But I wouldn’t recommend it as a solid base color. This product states that it is 7  nail benefits in one bottle. A base coat, strengthner, growth treatment, color, top coat, chip-resistant, gel shine. I will say it doesn’t chip easily. Just not a big fan of the color. This sells around $5.50 up to $8.00. No I would not pay either price for this. The applicator brush is unique, because it’s flat. However, there are streaks when applying the first coat. It doesn take several coats to cover up the streaks. I would try another color of this particular nail product to see if the results are the same. There are 56 shades to choose from.

Tide to Go. This is a travel size instant stain remover. I’ve used this before. Loved it! It works great on the run. I keep on in my purse for emergencies. I use it as a pre-stain remover. I seen these sell for $1.00 and up. You can purchase 3 in a pack for around $8.00

Riley & Grey. Is a wedding website. Where couples can build their wedding website from scratch. This is a great thing to have so that any & all family & friends can view the beautiful & very special day for their loved ones. Here is a link for the FAQ page to give you an idea about the site. I will be giving this to my future daughter in law to set up for her & my oldest son to show off their southern wedding.
