Crest Pro-Health Advanced Mouthwash [Review]

I received the purple Crest Pro-Health Advanced Mouthwash. I use it both in the morning & in the evening after I brush my tooth. In the evening I floss before using Crest Pro-Health Mouthwash. I noticed the typical sting of the mouthwash, but I have felt a stronger sting with similar products. The longer I swished it around in my mouth the more intense the sting/burn became.  The aroma of the Crest Pro-Health Advanced Mouthwash was pleasant, it’s a winterfresh mint kind of smell. I must have a cavity starting because once the mouthwash hit that area it hit a nerve. The bottle states to wait for food or drinks for 30 minutes, but by that time there is an unwanted taste in my mouth. My mouth felt clean, but that aftertaste was a bit much for me. I kept rubbing my tongue along my teeth because my teeth almost felt kind sticky, a film or protective coating.

Swishing Crest Pro-Health Advanced Mouthwash

My spouse uses mouthwash more often than I do, at work mostly. This was a welcome change to the other brands that he normally uses. He liked this product just as well, if not better than the brands. The plus side of Crest Pro-Health Mouthwash is that it is alcohol-free. There is no hard alcohol smell when you open the bottle. I noticed that there is a safety cap on the bottle, it must be gripped at the marks on the sides to twist off. This is good for those that have little ones who might be curious about the bright purple liquid in the bottle.

This mouthwash is an addition to the daily dental hygiene and the assistance of preventing activities in addition to regular dental exams.

What I Didn’t like about Crest Pro-Health Advanced Mouthwash:

  • The stinging sensation the longer it stays in your mouth
  • There is after taste that is left in your mouth.
  • Recommended a wait of 30 minutes before having any food or drink.

What I Do like about Crest Pro-Health Advanced Mouthwash:

  • There is no strong alcohol smell or taste. It’s 100% alcohol free
  • Safety (twist) cap
  • It does give a clean fresh feel to the teeth.
  • The price is reasonable at $6

Crest Pro-Heath Advanced Mouthwash

I would recommend this to family & friends. There is a certain amount of burning or stinging when using any mouthwash or oral rinse. However, Crest  Pro-Health Advanced doesn’t have a strong burning sensation compared to other mouthwashes I have used in the past.

CORICIDIN® HBP [Review]

Recently during my Thanksgiving Holidays I got a phone call from a very close cousin. She is like the older sister I never had. Besides inviting me to Thanksgiving dinner she told me that she had suffered a stroke the week before. She hadn’t called any family members yet because she was waiting for the final word from the doctors. She told me that she had been sick with a chest cold for a few days before this occurred. She went on to tell me that she had taken Theraflu, Nyquil and another cold relief medication.

She had no previous signs of High Blood Pressure (HBP), however the doctors informed her that due to the combination of those cold relief medications evaluated her blood pressure resulting in the stroke. She is recovering slowly, speech therapy along with physical therapy of her right side. She & I are both left handed!

I never knew that those types of cold medications can cause an evaluation in BP. Common sense tells us take every thing in moderation, most important is to follow the instructions. When in doubt about over-the-counter medications ask the pharmacist or call your doctor.

I have had HBP for over a year now, finally accepted the fact I need medication to keep it in check. Most of the time it still is a bit over. However, it’s due to another medication that I need to take. The added crap I take in to my body probably doesn’t help. I didn’t call my doctor when I took this, however I only took one pill instead of the recommended two. I waited to see how I felt before I took a second pill. Basically it’s two main ingredients of an Antihistamine and pain reliever – Acetaminophen (that everyone knows as Tylenol).  There is a 75 mg difference of acetaminophen. The standard acetaminophen pill has 250 mg and Coricidin contains 325 mg.  I noticed a sleepy sensation, drowsiness. I knew that was a result of the antihistamine, I could still function just not 100%. This gave me just enough to doze off for my body to get some rest. After reading up on all the information about this medication, over-the-counter stuff and HBP a person must be aware of all the risks. A person should know their body, what works and what doesn’t.

You can read more about the product at their website –  CoricidinHBP.com There you can even take some Blood Pressure quizzes or assess your HBP risks

Coricidin HBP is made in Germany but is distributed by MSD Consumer Care Inc. in Tennessee and a subsidiary of Merck & Co. Something different I read on the side panel of the package that I had not seen on other OTC medications. A “warning” to parents about teen medicine abuse with a website URL. Nice touch. Not sure how many parents would do their homework, but it’s nice having that piece of information there – just in case.

The price for a box of 10 pills will run about $4.00 to $5.00. Not sure I would use this when I am really sick with the flu or bad cough. I took it when I had the onset of a cold. By the 2nd day I was pretty much over it. I mentioned before that it was just enough to allow me to get some rest during the day for my body to fight off the cold.

I still recommend reading all the information, talking to your doctor or pharmacist about any medication that you are not familiar with.

SECRET OUTLAST® COMPLETELY CLEAN CLEAR GEL [Review]

I received Secret Outlast Completely Clean Clear Gel complimentary from Bzzagent for my honest opinion after I’ve used it. Secret Outlast Completely Clean Clear Gel is a distributed by Procter & Gamble.

I have used Secret deodorant off & on now. I couldn’t remember if I had used this product before and I have in the past.

Secret Outlast Completely Clean Clear Gel states that it will provide up 48 hours of odor free protection. This deodorant should not leave white marks on your clothes or residue on your skin. The Clear Gel is quick drying. The sample I received is 2.7 ounces. The measurement is about 1.4 x 1.4 x 4.2 inches. This deodorant does contain Aluminum Zirconium, which I know it not good for the body.

To start using the Secret Outlast Completely Clean Gel deodorant, simple take off the cap. Twist the bottom counter clock wise and the Clear Gel comes out of the top.

What I DON’T like about Secret Outlast Clean Gel:

  • The wet feeling when it first is applied.
  • It takes a few seconds to minutes for the wetness to dry completely.
  • There is a sticky feeling left. Sometimes I catch myself tucking my shirt into my armpit to absorb the wetness.

What I DO like about  Secret Outlast Clean Gel:

  • There is no white marks on my clothing.
  • Keeps me smelling fresh all day until late evening.
  • This product is easy to wash off. Secret Outlast Clean Gel doesn’t leave a heavy film on my skin that I need to scrub off.
  • The price is pretty average. (approx. $3.50-$4.50)
  • Has a clean scent to it, not a strong one.

SECRET OUTLAST® COMPLETELY CLEAN CLEAR GEL

I would suggest not applying Secret Outlast Clean Gel immediately after shaving because it may cause an irritation. I would apply it first before getting dressed, to allow time for the product to dry. However, to each their own. There is no need to apply much that will just take more time to dry. A dab of Secret Outlast Clean Gel is best to keep you fresh and odor free for the day.

I have purchased Secret Outlast Completely Clean Clear Gel in the past and will continue to buy it in the future. I do alternate between deodorants from time to time. This is a good deodorant, it works well and once you get past the “wet” feeling it will keep you dry and odor-free.

Cover Girl + Olay [Review]

I just tried the Cover Girl + Olay Facelift Effect firming makeup. In addition to that product I also received CoverGirl + Olay The De-Puffer Eye Concealer. I received these products complimentary from BzzAgent for testing purposes. These products are distributed by Procter & Gamble.

The Cover Girl + Olay Facelift Effect firming makeup  is advertised to provide a “luxurious  and flawless coverage with the powerful hydrating effects of a night cream.” It’s suppose to “plump & lift.”

sidebyside

What I did NOT like about CoverGirl + Olay FaceLift Effect:

  • I didn’t like the smell of the product when I opened and applied it. Not sure if that’s due to the chemicals that are used to provide the “plump & lift” effect.
  • The medium 350 shade seems to be too light for my skin.
  • After applying I felt like there was a thick and sticky layer on my face. Even after an hour, there was a sticky, heavy feeling on my face.
  • I did not like the way it felt on my skin. I did not notice any major difference. I did notice that the CoverGirl + Olay Facelift makeup lighten my skin, providing coverage of some dark spots.

What I did like about CoverGirl + Olay FaceLift Effect:

  • Even though I did not the sticky, heavy feeling it left on my face, it did provide coverage for my face. It did not cover all my dark spots, they seemed lighter, more even.
  • The price is reasonable at approximately $14.99.

I also used CoverGirl + Olay The De-Puffer eye concealer. This product advertises to “tackle puffiness & dark circles” underneath your eyes. Using “Olay rejuvenating serum plus cucumber extract soothes puffiness under the eye, while a unique cooling metal-tip applicator massages on concealer as it glides over under eye area.”

What I did NOT like about the CoverGirl + Olay The De-Puffer:

  • The De-Puffer eye concealer made no difference in hiding my dark circles under my eyes.
  • I didn’t notice a reduction in any puffiness.
  • According to the directions I was to apply the concealer with the applicator tip for 30 seconds. I can only think that the cool metal tip is supposed to aid with swelling. There is no way that the way would be applied evenly with that metal applicator tip. You will have to use your fingertip to rub in the remaining makeup.
  • After a while the makeup settles into the wrinkles underneath the eye. Which I did not like at all. Maybe I used too much.
  • The price is a bit much for this product. Approximately $10.99

What I did like about the CoverGirl + Olay The De-Puffer:

  • The design of the product. It’s a tube, just squeeze the tube & apply.
  • The metal tip adds to the unique design and is intended to assist in reducing the puffiness, by adding a cool sensation to the skin.

Would I recommend this product by Cover Girl + Olay Face Lift and De-Puffer? No. I have no intention on purchasing either Cover Girl + Olay Facelift Effect firming makeup or  CoverGirl + Olay The De-Puffer. I was not satisfied with other of these products.

The Scent of Chamomile [Product Review]

In my bathroom we hang our toilet paper “over” verses “under.” The new Charmin Chamomile Scented bathroom paper was hung over on the holder. I kept the door closed, when the door was opened there was an immediate aroma of the chamomile. That was a fresh, clean almost shampoo like scent.

Do you hang it OVER or UNDER?!

I received a 6 double roll of this chamomile scent bathroom tissue, complimentary for testing purposes.  Included inside the Bzzkit   were 5 coupons for $1.50 a purchase of this Charmin product.

Bzzkit #GotitFree #chamomillesmoothes

Bzzkit
#GotitFree #chamomilesmoothes

Charmin bathroom tissue paper with a Chamomile scent is a product of Protector & Gamble. Charmin has always been a thicker tissue paper thus more absorbent bathroom tissue paper. This product has the seal of “Good Housekeeping.” Which to you, the consumer means the following…

This is Good Housekeeping’s LIMITED WARRANTY: If any product that bears our Seal proves to be defective within two years from the date it was first sold to a consumer by an authorized retailer, we, Good Housekeeping, will replace or repair the product or refund the purchase price. – GoodHousekeeping.com

This is a reassuring thing to know, however I’m not sure how toilet paper can become defective, unless it gets wet in its package.

What I didn’t like about this product:

  • I found it difficult to use this product as a secondary item. I have been known to use bathroom tissue paper as emergency tissue for my nose, especially if I get a bloody nose (due to weather & allergies). The strong aroma of chamomile was just that – strong.
  • A concern I had, even though the product states that the paper roll is the item that is scented, the tissue paper still must get permeated. How does that affect the gentle areas of a woman’s body? It’s just a thought. Doctors tell women “don’t use any perfumed products, etc.” Or have they stopped saying that and I’m just a bit behind the times?
  • Once the package was open the chamomile scent was no longer a strong one.
  • The package states 6 double rolls = 12 regular rolls. However, Charmin’s idea of a double roll doesn’t seem like it. Each roll has 165 2-ply sheets.

What I did like about this product:

  • The softness of the paper.
  • The thickness of the paper. It is 2-ply. A definite difference.
  • The scent of the chamomile. It had a clean, fresh scent like shampoo.
  • Pretty flower design on the tissue paper.

Would I buy this product? Probably not. Because the aroma is a bit too strong for the multiple purposes that I tend to use bathroom tissue paper for. A tissue substitute for a running nose, wiping watery eyes.

If you are a smart consumer, pinching those pennies (like me) wanting to get more for your buck, be aware of the cost and amount of sheet per roll. I went to my local Wal-Mart to buy some toilet paper. Charmin Chamomile scented bath tissue was not anywhere to be seen. I took some photos so you can get an idea of cost & amount of tissue paper you get for the price. I’m gonna pass on any future purchase of Charmin Chamomile scented bath tissue paper.

This product was sent to me complimentary from BzzAgent.com for testing purposes, resulting in this blog post sharing my honest opinion.

Personalized Hair Color Is Easy [Review]

Recently I signed up for BzzAgent, in which I would be receiving complementary products for my testing purposes and sharing my honest opinion of that product.

I was invited to test a personalized hair dye product from eSalon.com

Before I received this product, I was sent to their website where I asked a few questions about my hair along with submitting a current photo of my hair color. At the end of the questionnaire you can pick your color. The website will not allow you to get crazy with the colors. You can not pick anything that is too light for a dark-haired person. The color I picked was “darkest brown with gold.” However there isn’t any golden in it. My hair is dark appearing almost black.

Within days of filling out my personalized information, I had received my personalized hair color. Just in time before I returned to work, which was a huge plus for this product.

You can listen to my podcast as I color my hair. It’s like being there with me as I test out this product.

eSalon Coloring Tools

This is $20 eSalon item

Included with this offer I received a $60 credit and purchased the “coloring tools.” This included a bowl, timer, battery, hair dye brush and 4 clips. The “Coloring Tools” kits is a $20 item.

What I liked about this product:

  • Arrived quicker than expected.
  • Very easy to use instructions.
  • Personalized hair color based on the answers I provided on the website questionnaire.
  • No strong order of chemicals.
  • The extra items that were included. Such as two pair of tight-fitting latex gloves. Stain guard and stain remover.
  • The scent of the conditioner was pleasant.

What I do not like about this product:

  • Cost.  It was a bit pricy. It’s $19.95 for an application. That might not be a lot for some, but for those on a budget it is a bit much. Worth it if you have the extra cash.
  • I think when it comes to hair coloring, it’s a gamble on getting the exact color you want. My color was a bit darker than what I expected. Not sure what the “gold” in the mix was meant for. Still alright, it covered the gray hair.
  • I colored my hair on Monday night, the gray hairs are already noticeable. Not a lot of them, however along my face the gray is peeking through.

I did not have any issues with using the website. I did not have difficulties receiving the package. It arrived in a very timely manner. Impressive to me. I did tell a few of my co-workers about this website and the idea of personalized hair color. Some seem interested, others seemed too leery about ordering stuff online.

I forgot to take a “before” photo. However, I did have some photos posted here just a few days before the color treatment. The header photo at the top of the page was taken the morning prior to the treatment. There is really no difference, which is ok. I was more concerned with covering up the gray hair.

Would I recommend this product? Not sure. If you’re in a hurry, then it’s worth the drive to the store to get a box of hair dye. However, if you’re planning something special, such a wedding, class reunion or something of that nature, which you can wait for the dye to arrive and want something that works – I would say “yes.” However, I am wondering if some of the higher end hair dyes work just as well for a bit of a lower price. I know some home hair color treatments cost anywhere from $3.00 up to $15. I think it boils down to your budget allowance and time. I probably won’t be re-ordering any more, just because the extra money just isn’t there.

[I received this product complementary from BzzAgent & eSalon for testing purposes. This post is based on my personal experience. 100% my opinion.]
