My VivaVoxBox

I received my second Vox Box from Influenster.com. Below are the products I found inside the box.

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

I tried the Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer first. It’s a spray body lotion.

  • Be careful when spraying it. Be aware of your your background because you’ll get lotion places you don’t want the lotion to be. (Suggestion: apply in the bathroom after a shower. Be careful not to get lotion on the floor because floor will get slippery)
  • Has a cocoa butter scent, reminds me of summer and the beach, sun tan lotion.
  • Is still somewhat stinky when dressing immediately after applying.
  • Skin is very smooth & soft. There is no greasy film afterwards. Just a slight stinky sensation to clothing. But to touch the skin after applying there is no slick, sticky or greasy feeling.

You can pick up this product for around $8. I would definitely use it during the summer. I would take it poolside,  applying some lotion to prevent dry skin after being exposed to pool chemicals and sunshine.

Vaseline Brand Spray And Go

Vaseline Brand Moisturizer Spray And Go

I received two bottles of Pure Ice nail polish.  One color is called “After Hours #274CP” It’s a pink-rose shade. Not necessarily a color I would have picked for myself. However, it does grow on me. I really liked that it doesn’t chip as easily as I expected it to. I am very hard on my nails (nail-biting habit). I did need about three coats. The second color is “It’s Complicated 1001” this nail polish is clear with multi-colored hexagon shaped confetti mixed in it. I would not wear this type of nail polish. The confetti pieces slide when you apply it. Sometimes you get a bunch of it in one area, you must paint over it to spread it over the nail.

There were the new Cetaphil Cleansing Cloths in the Viva Vox Box. Very similar to baby wipes, thicker than most brands. There are 25 towelettes in the package. This product is a bit pricey for only 25 towelettes. You can buy it for around $6. However average price for this type of product. The quality is towelette is much thicker than the cheaper brands. I like the hard plastic cover because it stays closed, better than the cheaper brands with just the sticky reseal cover. The towelettes will remain moist in this package. I did use one to remove my makeup after work. The towelette did remove most of the makeup. However, the towelette start to become what seemed to be fuzzy and stretched out looking. There isn’t a strong aroma of perfume or fragrance, slight hint of what smells like baby powder. I would recommend this as something to carry in an overnight bag or even in your purse. The cleansing cloths serve their purpose when you may need to freshen up during a hot summer.

I found some lip color. I love any product for my lips. New York Color Proof Twistable Lip Color. A shade called “South Ferry Berry #040” It’s a bright red shade. I love the way it smells, reminds me of a berry scent. What I don’t like is that it is a bit waxy, having a similar feel to a cheap lip balm. It’s a matte, so the color is not shiny, which I do like for a change. This product doesn’t last as long for me as some others because I do tend to lick my lips a lot and rub my lips together. This product will smear and stain your skin for a bit if you’re not paying attention. Like lipstick it will get on your teeth. It’s a twistable tube,  like a big crayon. Costs around $3 for any one of the 12 colors that are available.

The Montagne Jeunesse Manuka Honey Peel-off mask was really good. I had used similar products in the past. However none are as thick as this product. The Manuka Honey Peel-off mask was very thick. I did have difficulty when I tried openly the pouch. There is a designated tore off spot. However when I did tear it off it wasn’t enough to squeeze out the product. I had to get scissors to finish opening the hole. I noticed that there was a lot of product inside. I applied it to my face, sat around for it to dry about 20 minutes. It is the neatest feeling to pull (peel) it off. Then to look at it, seeing the skin lines, dry skin. There was a tight feeling to my face afterwards, a bit dry. Only thing I didn’t like is that it was a one time use. There are so many other skin care products to choose from, covering all parts of the body. It seems that most products come in pouches. Which I don’t like those, but one can always cut it open to get every last drop of the product.

I did a separate post for the Shell Fuel Rewards card. You can read that one here.

Shell Fuel Rewards Card

I received my second vox box called the VivaVoxBox.  I needed gas in my car. The Shell Fuel Rewards card came at a perfect time. I activated it online. Then went to fuel up. Gas is $3.79 per gallon. Memorial day weekend is around the corner. I know it will go higher. At the pump there are instructions to tell you to swipe the reward card first before any thing else.

Once you sign up you can also sign up for other programs via the FRN (Fuel Reward Network). Savings on Allstate insurance, shopping, dining and groceries. It might be worth looking into, just to save a few pennies. Remember to always read the fine print before signing on the dotted line.

Melt App [Review]

I heard about a new audio app for iOS called Melt.

Melt is for people to express their most important thoughts in voice. Melt is Voice-over compatible for visually impaired users!

This app was created by Jason Lew, Shane Wey at Superhero Labs. Based in San Francisco, California.

My Cons

  • There is only 60 seconds of record time.
  • Once you push the “blue” record button, another screen pops up. “What’s on your mind?” with another “blue” record button and you must tap that again to record.
  • Can not upload any art or photo to go with your audio
  • For iOS only
  • There is no saving of recorded audio. You must upload or hold it until you’re able to upload it.
  • There is no usable website.
  • I have noticed that there are a lot of younger members/users. Mostly female from the looks in the “new melters” section. There are a lot of silent members.
  • No description section for 60 second audio. There is no use of hashtags.
Melt iOS App

Melt iOS App

My Pros

  • Can share via Facebook, Twitter, email, text message and URL.
  • You can share the audio immediately after recording or share someone else’s (including yours) later on at a more convenient time.
  • There is a total number of plays on your profile, to let you know how many times your Melts have been played.
  • Has a “Featured” members section. Great way to “promote” the frequent users.
  • Commenting abilities. Both typed & audio. However, if a member uses the audio reply underneath that specific Melt, the response is not directly linked under the original Melt but placed into the main “Melt feed.”
  • Ability to “like” a Melt.

Once you sign up, you notice there is a drop down menu in the left hand corner. There you can see your options for moving around within the app.

Home: contains your followers “Melt feed.”

Me: contains your profile, along with all your Melts. You can see how many Melts you have uploaded. View both your followers and those that you are following. You can see the total number of plays. Currently mine is at 174.  There is a section where you can edit your profile. Name, Tagline, Location and website. Upload a bio photo. You can email an advertisement to someone about your new discovery.

Melters: Breaks down the membership in three sections. Featured. New and Search. An excellent way to found users to listen to and follow. A plus is their “featured members” section.

Melts: is the main feed where all Melts are found. Where you can listen to the new stuff.

This app is fairly new. I’m sure that there will be more changes, improvements in the near future for this growing app. It’s great for sharing a single thought on twitter. Facebook people tend to read posts verses clicking the play button. I can’t see it being popular on Facebook.  There isn’t a lot of interaction among users. There is ability to type a comment, but this is about audio. It starts to defeat the point of the app if there is more typed commenting. Difficult to reply or debate with only 60 seconds to the audio.  Of course there are always the core community users of any app, no difference here. There are a few users who truly enjoy this app. Who use it to promote awareness to their beliefs on a subject. There are some users who use it to share about their day in school. Some record their everyday routines, just being silly. I can’t see this app being used by podcasters or those who enjoy using audio for audio blogging in length. This app is short & to the point. Get your thought out there.

Once your Melt is uploaded you recieve an email with the link to your Melt. There you can also share via Twitter, Facebook, URL and embed. Below is an example of a recent Melt I did.

Body Spa Personal Vibrating Foam Sponge [Review]

I won the “Body Spa Personal Vibrating Foam Sponge” in The 25 Days of Sexmas Giveaway. The contest was sponsored by TheFrisky.comunboundbox.com. I decided to use brand new foam sponge last night when I took a long hot bath. The foam sponge is distributed by Empire Labs out of Portland, Oregon.

The foam sponge is available for around $20. I have seen it “On Sale” for as low as $10.99. I would pay that price before I would pay the $19.99 plus shipping & handling.

This foam sponge is:

  • Waterproof
  • A real foam sponge
  • Contains a single speed bullet
  • Egg-shaped approximately 5 1/2 – 4 1/2 inches
  • Quiet
  • My long black hair did get caught up in the sponge. I had to spend a few minutes pulling out strands of my hair
  • Not a powerful vibration

About the Bullet:

  • Requires 3 LR44 cell batteries
  • Single speed
  • Push button On/Off
  • Does seem to have a problem being waterproof (See Photo Gallery Above)

My personal experience: I am indifferent with this product. It’s a foam bath sponge. It does it’s job. I use it to clean my skin and get me clean smelling. I turned it on, it vibrated. But it wasn’t strong enough to use on one’s shoulders or neck to relieve tension or sore muscles. The vibrating gives just a little extra to the sponge. After use I noticed I had to pull out the strands of my long hair that somehow got threaded through the sponge. I hadn’t really looked at the bullet prior to using it in the tub. However, afterwards I took the bullet apart. As you can see by the photos above the inside of the bullet was very rusty. I tried to get the batteries out, they were so rusty. The on/off button no longer works properly. The bottom half of the bullet actually vibrates without the top half being connected. I can put all the batteries inside, giggle it and it will vibrate. Will I use it again? The foam sponge without the bullet will be used for Sassy’s shower time.

Candy [Review]

I was in CVS store picking up a prescription. When I walked by the candy isle. I love candy! Most all candy. What I love more is tasting new candy. I walked past a display for something new that I haven’t seen before.

M&M’s (distributed by the Mars Chocolate Company). The display was for “Birthday Cake M&M’s” and “Mega M&M’s” for only 88 cents each. I couldn’t pass that up. I bought one of each.

First I tasted was the “Mega M&M’s”

  • These M&M’s are larger in size than the regular M&M’s
  • Candy comes in Blue, Red, Green, Blue, Orange and Yellow.
  • There were about 14-17 total M&M’s in the 1.48 oz package
  • 200 calories

These M&M’s tasted just like the regular milk chocolate M&M’s, just more of the candy to melt in your mouth.

Next up for the taste test was the “Birthday Cake M&M’s”

The “Birthday Cake M&M’s”

  • Tasted like a moist bakery chocolate birthday cake
  • Only three colors. Blue, Yellow and Red
  • There are about 20-23 M&M’s in this 1.40 oz package
  • 190 calories

These Birthday Cake flavored M&M’s are pretty tasty. My Beloved said they were a little too sweet to eat them all at once. I enjoyed munching on them while I was watching a movie.

I do enjoy candy. I tend to eat too much of it. I do go through binges where I will eat a lot of candy then I can stand even the smell of it.

Yappie App [Review]

I noticed new follower “Yappie” on my twitter. I always peek at who is following me, including peeking on any websites listed. I immediately clicked on the Yappie.com

I discovered that it was an audio blogging platform. A another audio social network. I had to join. Why? Because I enjoy audio-blogging. A group of about 14 guys run this cool little app. The iOS app looks fairly new, it’s dated back to October 2013 with only one update in November 2013. When signing up you’re asked to pick out some interests, such as music, movies, lifestyles, sports. You have the option of making your profile private or public, connecting with Facebook or Twitter. A member creates a brief bio, uploads a profile photo and a background photo (just like Twitter).

Once signed up, the member to share their Yappie on their Facebook or Twitter pages. Other options for sharing are copying to clipboard, embedding the player (below) and sending via email.

Once signed up and in, there are few different tabs at the bottom. First the “Home” tab gives the member an option to view two different news feed. The first being their own news feed including these they are following. The other option is “Global” where a member can view the entire Yappie news feed, a great way to hear new voices. A members news feed includes the number of likes and the number of listens. A member can comment immediately upon listening to someone’s app. The comments are  typed, perhaps in the beta version or updated versions a possibility of audio comments including typed. There is an option to share on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and email. Being able to leave a comment immediately upon listening is a plus for this app.

Under "Home" tab, a member has the option to view two different newsfeed.

Under “Home” tab, a member has the option to view two different newsfeed.

When you see a member with a blue Yapp, it means that they have been “verified.” This is on my to-do-list. A member can search for members and or hashtags.

Another tab is “Popular.” A member has the options of looking through the “Trending, Editor’s Picks and the Leader board” Yapps. Trending Yapps are highlighted in a different colored mosaic page. Editor’s Picks are those Yapps that are highlighted by staff. The Leader board is unique. A member can earn points daily by just being active on the site. Listening, recording, commenting and liking Yapps all earn a member points. The Leader board shows the highest scoring profiles, including yours and those you’re following, along throughout the Yappie site. The pink number under a member is their rank on Yappie and the blue number is the number of the points they have earned being active.

Recording is pretty simple. Just hit the pink dot at the bottom of the app and watch the counter start counting down. There is only 60 seconds of record time for this app. Which is not a plus in my opinion or experience with audio social networks. There are some that start out with 3 minutes of recording time (Audioboo), Chirbit gives up to 2 hours or what space you have on your phone. Eevzdrop gives a 10 minute recording time. Which is a really good amount of time. Some give 5 minutes (Voicebo) others like Yappie only give 60 seconds, like Dubbler. Yappie is like Dubbler with the time limit and they offer 6 unique voice filters to add to your audio. There is also an option to upload audio files on the Yappie site (via computer). Which worked very nicely, I uploaded one called “Love Letters.” Tweak your Yapp, pin it to your location on the map. Use your iOS settings to add the location. You send a direct message to any one of your followers. You can mention a member in your Yapp descriptionby using the @ symbol, plus adding the hastags to the description.

I really enjoyed using this app. The only down side is that it is only 60 seconds of record time. Would be great for using it for a Twitter vocal status update. I would not recommend this to those hardcore audio-bloggers that I know. This social app is fairly new so there really isn’t a lot of interaction. The staff work hard to make new users feel welcome, a select few users comment or like. Incentive is the points the member gets for their activity. I think this has the potential to be a very unique audio-blogging social app. Another down side to this app is that there is no option to upload photos to a Yapp. However, there is a beta version in which the staff might be working on this option. It would definitely add to this app.

There are users that haven’t recorded anything in weeks. I noticed there are big time gaps someone recorded something 2 hours ago, before that 9 hours ago and then 12 hours to 1 day. I did that scan through the “popular” Yapps. In another search I got 4 hours ago to mine that was 16 hours ago and that was under “global” Yapps. So, don’t expect a lot of social movement. Keep in mind it’s all still very new.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Retro Glam Mascara [Review]

I'm a Winner I received ScandalEyes Mascara (Extreme Black 003) by Rimmel London from Influenster as a gift for blogging about the JollyVoxBox.  I will start by saying I was thrilled to read that I was getting another product. Upon first seeing this product I wasn’t to thrilled on the background design. The design of the colors with a bull eyes effect. I just think it looks a bit too busy. However its very easy to open.

I received this product as a complimentary gift. I found that the price varies depending on where you shopping. The price ranged from $3.50 to as high as $12.00. I would pay $3-4 but not $12 for this product.

After opening the mascara tube, I noticed that there is a lot of thick mascara on the applicator tip itself. One should be careful applying this mascara. Applying too much at one time could result in clumping, matting and just a messy look. Apply a light coating at first continue with second & third coat to get the full effect.

There is a noticeable difference in the eyelashes after using ScandalEyes Mascara. My eyelashes were darker, thicker looking. Since the applicator brush is hour-glass shaped with a round edge it may difficult to reach the inner eyelashes. The middle and end lashes benefit the most for this product.

My Personal Experience: I didn’t like this product at first because it seemed so thick & wet that it went on too thick. I had to scale back on how much I was applying.  The tube is a bit chunky, about 5 inches in length. The one thing that I truly loved about this product is that I can take a nap wearing it and do not have to worry about waking up with raccoon eyes. There is minimal flaking, no smearing. Just a little touch up and I was good to go again. It did make my eyelashes seem to be thicker &  fuller. The effect longs a few hours, touch up will be needed.  It is messy to wash off, the longer I wore it the more flaking I did notice. It will leave a nice black rub mark on your finger if you rub your eye.  I wouldn’t have purchased this to start, however, I might consider purchasing it now after I have had the opportunity to use it. It’s just that it’s still a bit pricey for me.

OVO W1 [Review]

OVO W1 review by SassyCat3000

A contest prize from unboundbox.com & thefrisky.com

Back in December I entered a contest via The Frisky website. I won. The prizes were sponsored by unbound.com Inside were many products that I am attempting to give my opinion about. The first product I used was the “OVO W1” (Violet). It is available in three different colors. I found prices vary anywhere from $15 to $30. I would not pay $29.95 for this product.

This product is …OVO W1 Bullet Product Review by SassyCat3000

  • designed & developed in Germany
  • waterproof
  • made of Silicone material and 100% body-safe materials

The product came in a small box with a tight fit, a bit difficult to open. Inside the box the product was displayed in a foam type of setting with the instruction pamphlet at the bottom. It took a few attempts before I could pull the instruction booklet out of the slot.

Opened box, instruction bookletI’m not impressed with the instruction booklet. The instructions are typed in eight different languages. However, it’s written to cover most if not all the similar products. Inside the basics are covered from cleaning the product to warnings about using the product. Keep cards with magnetic strips away from the toy, as the magnetic field could damage the cards. I would have never known that, would you?

This product is

  • easy to use, has on/off push button at tip of bullet
  • requires (3) LR41 cell batteries (which are $1.50 each)
  • a single speed powerful bullet clitoral vibrator
  •  somewhat quiet
  • approx 5cm -2 inches with a circumference of 2cm to 0.8 inchs (fits in the palm of my hand)

My Personal Experience: I have used this product a few times. The first time I used it, the motor slowed down. I shut it off, waiting for a few minutes. I powered it back up, it worked at full speed again. The second time I used it, it died completely after only a few minutes. I figured that the batteries that came with it might have been old. I replaced the old batteries, used it during sex (the third time). I noticed it started to slow down once again. The OVO W1 overheated or something else causing it to slow down, yet again. After a few more minutes the OVO W1 stopped working. Not sure what exactly the problem is with it. I washed it with hot water & soap. Wiped it down with some baby wipes. towel dried it, putting it back in the box. That was the last time I used it. I have only used this product with water based lube. I have not used it in the shower or tub, even though it is waterproof. The OVO W1 left me disappointed & frustrated.

This product comes with a 15 year warranty.
